Looking to deepen your climbing knowledge? We've got classes for all skill levels!
Intro To Gym ClimbingThis class is designed for new climbers who want to build a solid foundation in indoor gym climbing—both bouldering and sport climbing. You’ll learn essential skills and knowledge to climb confidently and effectively, including proper gym etiquette, common climbing terminology, and best practices for falling and spotting. We’ll cover how to tie a figure-eight knot, use a GRIGRI, perform thorough buddy checks, and belay according to industry standards. By the end of the course, you’ll have the tools and confidence to navigate the climbing gym.
Top Rope Belay LessonWhether you are a boulderer, a beginner, or an experienced climber in need of a belay refresher, this one-hour class may be the right fit for you. You’ll learn how to properly put on a harness, tie a figure-8 knot, check yourself and your partner, and belay by nationally recognized standards. Once you pass the class, you will be given a provisional belay certification that is only good for the day of your belay lesson. To get fully certified at CityROCK, you must pass our belay test 24 hours after taking the class.
Fundamentals of Climbing MovementThis class is for people who are ready to learn to climb more efficiently and delve into some more technical skills. With a focus on footwork, this progressive, 2-week technical climbing skills class is perfect for beginners up to V2/V3 (5.10) climbers. Each week will challenge the climber with new skills and climbing drills designed to improve your ability to move on the wall.
Intro To LeadThe first day will cover clipping techniques, back clipping, z-clipping, bad leg positioning, lead belaying, giving a soft catch, falling, risk assessment, and more. The second class is one week after the first to give you plenty of time to practice. In the second class, students will lead routes while receiving feedback from their coach. They will fall in many different situations and cover risk assessment in more detail. At the end of the second day, students will have an option to become lead certified at CityROCK.
